HECB was formed in 2005 as a small company by four young friends viz. Mr. Pawan Agrawal, Mr. Satish Agrawal, Mr. Sanjay Agrawal and Mr. Rajeev Agrawal of Bilaspur, Chattisgarh. Initially it was started with a very small capacity as a coal handling agency.

Promoters of Company made organic and inorganic expansion both through association with other players operating in the same segment. At present HECB is establishing its own coal washing facilities and railway sidings at various important locations near coal mines. At present HECB operates at total coal washing capacity of 5 MTPA, which is going to expanded to 15 MTPA by end of 2012.

Recently company forayed into imported coal market to offer a basket of cost effective and quality fuel solution to its customers. It has started operations in Indonesia through subsidiaries in Indonesia and Singapore.
